Cruciate ligaments are the central stabilisers of the knee. There are 2 cruciate ligaments: anterior and posterior cruciate ligament. They are located centrally in the knee and connect to the femur and tibia. Claudius Galen (199-129 BC) gave the first description of these ligaments and named it: "ligamenta genu cruciate". The Orthopaedic Center Máxima is a center of excellence for treament of knee injuries. My practice is a tertiary referral center for cruciate ligament and posterolateral knee injuries for The Netherlands. I refer to the webpages Biography and Publications for additional information on my practice and scientific research.
