One year after total knee replacement
Experiences of a 63 year old man with knee osteoarthritis. He underwent total knee replacement by RPA Janssen, MD at the Orthopaedic Center Máxima, Eindhoven, The Netherlands.
At the age of 35, a doctor told me that a knee replacement would be necessary. He felt that I was too young for surgery and suggested that I should live with the pain. I kept going until the age of 63, when I consulted dr Janssen. He advised a total knee prosthesis for my knee. This is now 13 months ago. I made a choice for general anaesthesia which went very well. I could leave the hospital 4 days after surgery with my knee bending 85 degrees. I had 25 visits to a physiotherapist to work on my rehabilitation. It all went very fast; at 6 weeks I was gardening already and I was back to work at 4 months. Now, one year later, I am very happy, painfree and no longer suffering any knee discomfort. I am grateful to dr Janssen for this successful surgery.
