After my orthopaedic surgical training, I received additional education in various (inter)national knee centers for specialization in all treatment modalities of the knee joint. Since 2006, I am a full time knee specialist in the Orthopaedic Center Máxima Eindhoven/Veldhoven, The Netherlands. I treat (high level) sports injuries, traumatic disorders, meniscus and cruciate ligament lesions, multi-ligament injuries, cartilage disorders and osteoarthritis of the knee.

I am associated with 16 other higly specialized orthopaedic surgeons in the Orthopaedic Associates Eindhoven Greater Area. The advantage of a large association is the high standard of medical care for patients. I have a great interest in Value-Based Health Care. In 2019, I have been appointed Professor Value-Based Health Care at Fontys University of Applied Sciences. My orthopaedic private practice is located at Máxima Medical Center Eindhoven/Veldhoven, The Netherlands. My knee practice is a national tertiary referral center for disorders of the cruciate ligaments, complex ligament injuries and pediatric cruciate ligament injuries for adults and children. We are a referral center for Dutch olympic athletes, professional football (Royal Dutch Football Association-KNVB) and various other sports associations. Máxima Medical Center is a national STZ Expertise Center for Knee-Instability for adults and pediatric knee injuries (STZ = Association of Top Clinical Hospitals) and 1 of the 12 certified Top Sport Centers in The Netherlands (TMS certified). I am chair the ESSKA PAMI research center at Máxima Medical Center.

Besides my knee practice, I am involved in scientific research and teaching on various subjects on knee, sports and trauma. I have a special scientific interest in the cruciate ligament remodelling and pediatric cruciate ligament injuries. In 2016, I received my PhD title on the thesis Anterior Cruciate Ligament Reconstruction & Accelerated Rehabilitation. Hamstring Tendons, Remodelling and Osteoarthritis at Maastricht University, The Netherlands (see Publications). In 2019, I was appointed Associate Professor Knee Reconstruction at the Eindhoven University of Technology. Fields of interst are the Digital Twin Knee, ACL graft remodelling & rehabilitation and value-based personalized knee care. I am co-author of national guidelines on anterior cruciate knee injuries, complex knee injuries and knee rehabilitation as well as co-supervisor of various knee PhD projects.

I am the director of the Orthopaedic Residency Program at Máxima Medical Center Eindhoven-Veldhoven and Catharina Hospital, The Netherlands. I am also a partner in the Sports Clinical Expertise Center and course director of the annual international Arthroscopy&Arthroplasty Courses Utrecht (The Netherlands). I lecture and instruct various surgical techniques on cruciate and ligament surgery in (inter)national ISAKOS & ESSKA approved courses, at Masters and Post-Masters Physiotherapy Schools. I am an ESSKA accredited teacher. I have been awarded the Mednet Top Physician Orthopaedic Surgeon Award in 2011, 2012 & 2013 as well as Best Director of Residency Program 2018 in the Netherlands.
